Facilities that are covered in OSHA PSM and/or EPA RMP are required to update and revalidate their PHA studies at least every five years by a qualified team to assure that the PHA is consistent with the current process.
PSRG has facilitated hundreds of Process Hazard Analysis reviews per OSHA 29CFR1910.119(e); both for new facility PHAs and modifications, as well as PHA revalidations. Our highly qualified and experienced team leaders will facilitate your PHA team to develop timely recommendation reports for management and mitigation of risks to as low as reasonably practical. We also provide PHA Team Leader Certification Training.
Beyond complying with OSHA PSM and/ or EPA RMP regulation, there are benefits to gain from conducting a PHA.
• Gives the basis for risk acceptance
• Identifies and addresses highest risks
• Develops the most effective strategy to minimize risks
• Analyzes alternative risk reduction schemes
• Addresses and incorporates previous incidents with appropriate prevention measures
• Monitoring PSM program continuous improvement
The PHA can help identify the underlying cause of an event, determine to the severity of the impact, consider safeguards to prevent the event, and create recommendation to prevent or reduce the consequence of the incident. Methodologies for conducting PHA include HAZOP, Check-list Analysis, What-if, What-if/Checklist, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, etc.
